Granite United Way Volunteers Announce Third Round of Responsive Grant Funding

Granite United Way volunteers across seven regions have completed the third round of responsive grant funding.

Aligning with its Strategic Plan, Granite United Way offers nonprofits an opportunity to access responsive funding multiple times per year with grants ranging from $1,000 – $10,000 each cycle.

“Our volunteer-led Community Impact Committees reviewed each of the applications and are proud to be infusing $300,000 immediately into community programs,” said Nichole Martin Reimer, President and CEO of Granite United Way. “During the three funding cycles this year our Community Impact Committees have been able to invest more than $1 million in responsive grants.”

In July, certified 501(c)3 organizations, or organizations with a fiscal sponsor, had a third opportunity to apply for funding in all 7 of the regions Granite United Way serves.

Highlights of the new funding model during this third cycle:

• Local Community Impact Committee (CIC) members – all volunteers – evaluated all applications and made funding recommendations to Granite United Way’s Board of Directors

• $300,000 will be distributed to local nonprofits

• Grant requests ranged from $1,000 – $10,000

“Across all of our regions we continue to see a real need to support issues that ranged from housing, transportation and access to early childhood initiatives,” said Tim Soucy, Community Impact Committee Chair for the Southern Region and Granite United Way Board Member. “In addition to programs we were familiar with, we were honored make awards to several organization who were applying for United Way funding for the first time.”

“This process has provided us with the opportunity to hear directly from the nonprofit partners working on these complex issues in our community,” said Betsey Rhynhart, Vice President of Population Health at Concord Hospital and Granite United Way Board Member.
